SAS-1 plus - Protein electrophoresis system

Drawing up to 24 samples on gel is carried out automatically by means of special applicators. The electrophoretic separation procedure is carried out according to one of 20 programs chosen by the user depending on the research being performed.

The design of the applicator allows you to apply exactly 3 µl of the sample to the gel. Applicators are combined in "comb". Two combs in the analyzer allow you to simultaneously apply 24 samples per 1 gel.

If the analyzed fluid is urine, then its concentration is performed directly on the gel by applying a sample 10 times to the gel using the mentioned applicator. Concentrations are exposed to 24 samples in parallel. Additional devices or actions for urine concentration are not required. This eliminates the loss of the analyzed material. This technique is unique and is implemented only in the analyzers manufactured by HelenaBiosciencesEurope.

The manufacturer recommends using SAS-2 with SAS-1 Plus.

This system is used:

  • To separate serum proteins into 5 or 6 fractions.
  • To separate high resolution proteins into 15 fractions.
  • For the determination of proteins in the urine.
  • For screening for monoclonal gammapathies.
  • For immunofixation to determine the structure of the monoclonal component (serum and urine).
  • For the determination of serum alkaline phosphatase isoenzymes. Is unique!
  • For the determination of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) isoenzymes in serum and plasma.
  • For the determination of isoenzymes of creatine phosphokinase in serum and plasma.
  • The test system “Lipoproteins” is intended for the separation of serum or plasma lipoproteins using agarose gel electrophoresis followed by a qualitative assessment of individual fractions. This test system allows the typing of dyslipoproteinemia according to the classification of Friedrickson.
  • The test system "Cholesterol profile including LP (a)" is intended for the quantitative determination of lipoproteins in serum or plasma by electrophoresis on agarose gel.
  • To diagnose multiple sclerosis by detecting IgG oligoclonal bands in the CSF. Unique!
  • To determine transferrin (isoelectric focusing). Is unique!

To determine the pathological forms of hemoglobin.
